Priceless Portraits in Carmel, Monterey, and Beyond!

Nothing is more important in life than family. Your family is everything, and nothing in a home is more important than family. A family portrait reminds us of the important things in life.  A family portrait is what makes a house a home.

A family wall portrait is one of the most important pieces of home furniture. There are dozens of considerations in designing a family wall portrait, including simply getting the family together in the same place at the same time!  The holidays often provide a great opportunity to take advantage of having the family together and making a beautiful portrait.

"Ken, I just wanted to follow-up and thank you for arranging sucha great photo shoot for our family. We really appreciate what you were able to do with the weather! It was so nice to work with a competent, nice, professional. We all especially loved the presentation and the quickness with which you made it happen." --Terry Campbell

The beach is a popular choice for a family portrait. Shooting a portrait in studio may give greater control over lighting, but photographing a portrait on location does not necessarily mean sacrificing quality lighting for your family portrait. We’ve taken to the time to coordinate, plan, and design your portrait—skimping on lighting and equipment is not part of the equation!  Using on-camera flash simply cannot provide the quality of lighting afforded by studio lighting and portable power.  I also use Medium Format Digital cameras for the highest possible quality.  For those that are interested, I will be expanding briefly on the Medium Format Digital advantage using Phase One Medium Format Digital Backs in a later installment.

There are so many possibilities! The portrait below was actually photographed in the rain just before Thanksgiving. I gelled my studio lights to give the appearance of a warm autumn afternoon. This historic ranch provided strong emotional ties for my clients, and an enviromental portrait of the grandchildren was perfect.
